- In March, American astronaut Neil Armstrong successfully docks his Gemini 8 spacecraft with an Agena target vehicle, another first for human space exploration. Seven months later, his colleague, Edwin E. "Buzz" Aldrin, manages to work comfortably in vaccuum of space for five hours, thus proving that it is possible for humans to perform productive tasks outside of their spacecraft.
