The SSV Himalaya was a Systems Alliance dreadnought during the First Contact War against the turians. After the war, the Himalaya was retired from active service, as its model had become outdated, and was replaced with newer dreadnought models that were designed with Citadel technology. Following its retirement, the Himalaya served as a training ground for new recruits at the Systems Alliance Military academy on Shanxi. Johun Shepard participated in zero-gravity and spacewalking exercises aboard the Himalaya. All exercises on the Himalaya were overseen by Gunnery Sergeant Bryan Iverson.
